No. Tungsten carbide is far too hard to be stretched, cut, or soldered the way gold and platinum are, so a tungsten band cannot be resized after it is made. Because of that, accurate sizing at the start matters. Our team measures your finger in the showroom and accounts for knuckle size, band width, and seasonal swelling before you order.
Yes. Commercially pure titanium is nickel free and biocompatible, which is why it is used in medical implants. It is one of the safest choices for anyone with sensitive skin or a nickel allergy. Titanium is also very light on the hand, so it suits clients who work with their hands or dislike the weight of a traditional metal band.
It depends on what you mean by durable. Tungsten carbide is the most scratch resistant and holds a polish longest, but it is brittle and can crack under a hard impact. Tantalum is the better all around choice because it resists scratching well, will not shatter, and can still be cut off in an emergency.
Modern Damascus is made by forge welding two different stainless steels into a single billet, then folding and twisting the layers before the ring is formed. An acid etch finishes the process, darkening one steel and leaving the other bright so the layered pattern appears. No two rings are identical, which is part of the appeal.
Yes. Cobalt chrome is hard but not brittle, so a standard ring cutter in an emergency room can remove it the same way it removes a gold band. This is a meaningful safety advantage over tungsten, which has to be cracked apart with vice grips rather than cut.
